The research proposal was the first major assignment that we had to do this semester where we made an argument for the research topic that we were planning on doing for the final research paper. This assignment was the first major assignment where we really had to incorporate our secondary sources and connect the important information together. When writing, I ran into the problem of not writing for the correct audience (an uninformed reader) and assumed they were at the same knowledge as myself. From the final draft to the shadow graded final assignment, I believe that it displays the areas where I was lacking from the final draft, and fixed major issues including my overall research questions for my final research paper. This artifact shows that I completed the outcome because it shows me entering the scholarly conversation that is happening and then I provide the ways that I plan on contributing to that conversation. It also shows progress in the way that I had to adapt my thinking after receiving feedback from the professor. This first major assignment challenged me to use my secondary sources well, but overall the experience prepared me for the final research paper and was a great outline for how I wanted to achieve the goals met in the final research paper.
